I have a 1960-1962 235 engine in my 54 Chevy truck. Since the stock motor mount is impossible to find I picked up one that fits 47-53 trucks. Yesterday I tried installing it but ran into a few problems:

    1. The balancer can't go in all the way because now it rubs against the tin motor mount cover plate. What am I doing wrong here? Should I just switch over to a different motor mount plate? Are they higher then the one I have to allow the balancer to clear?

    2. I noticed the balancer doesn't bolt on at all. It was just pressed on. Is this normal?

    Any info is appreciated.

    Thanks

You might try shimming with some plate steel. Yes, the balancer is simply pressed on.

  3. I'm no expert, but the folks over on Stovebolt.com should have lots of good suggestions. Experts when it comes to those old chevy's
