There's a great antique motorcycle show April29-30 in Oley, Pa. About 300 vendors, bikes back to belt drives. The show is on the grounds of the Oley fire co. which is close to the Reading MC club, the oldest MC club in the US. You can camp or park your motorhome. The Perkiomen Chapter of the AMCA hosts the show. There are even classes for bobbers, too.
I've been to that show a few times.... it's really cool. Dont let them know you're building a chopper or a bobber, they wont sell you dogshit. AMCA member for 18 years.
The AMCA has a site, should be info there. Go to Cabellos on rt. 78, head south on 61, them get on rt. 73. Oley is close to Boyertown on a map. Last year there was a Crosley convertible there with a Harley 45 mounted in the passenger side floor for motorvation. It had lots of extra chrome trim, 50's custom. A few years ago there was a 20's Indian that had been converted to a garden cultivator, giant sprocket in back, car rear tire, and a least 50 lbs. of welding rods and 100lbs. of angle iron to put on the front cultivators. Even had an outrigger for going on hillsides. Kool! You never know what you'll see.
So who is planning to go, I'll be there looking to pick up last remaining items for the chief. Can't wait this project has been a long time and I am finally seeing the end. Now if I can get the tanks soldered back together so they hold fuel I'll be all set.
Hard to believe that I started collecting the parts for my 1937 Harley 9 years ago at Oley! It's a roller in primer now, but has a long way to go to look like this photo of the one Dad bought new.
cool bike there 37kid i am also into my bike because of family my grandfather gave me a 27 he had rotting under a tree
Spike, Oley is between Ken's house and Rob's shop. Just off route 73. The fairgrounds sits behind the Oley Fire Company which is on Main Street. Give us a PM or phone our cell we can hook up with you if you come up. Kyle
I'll probably roll up there. Need some tin work for my new AJS. Don't know if I'll have some money by then, but its worth it just for looksies.
There's a pavilion on the end of the food building, the end where they sell the T-shirts. How about at this pavilion at say 2:00 Sat. ? This is the pavilion that usually has the oldest primo bikes. I'll be there.
This a great show. I live about ten miles away and have been for the past several years. Unfortunately for me, I have to be in Harrisburg that Saturday. Nuts!
Looks like we are set to be in Oley, now if the weather cooperates, I'm bringing my rain coat. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you guys. See ya Saturday at 2
It's April 24-26, I think flatheads are the feature. It should be "knuckleheads" after the way the AMCA treasury was robbed last year. I wonder if their $400,000 experiment got them any new members. I know it lost some.
