This doesn't have anything to do with me, just passing the word along for all. If its in the wrong spot delete it or move it. At least one Model A, couple shoeboxes, among many others. Have a look see. http://www.auctionzip.com/Listings/412181.html
anyone know this place? was it a running yard at one time or someone hoarding? gotta go check it out, might be some bargains.
Its right by Flemington actually, not that bad. Prolly 45 mins or so from me. That is practically Kustom7777's back yard.
2afbs, the one on May 5th is not too far from us. I'll be out of town, but you could go & report back to us.
I was tipped off to this auction a few weeks ago. There will be an invasion of some HAMBers, so be ready to duke it out for the cool stuff. See ya's there......
I would like to have that 54 Vett! Or even that odd looking Lincoln??? If anyone gets that Corvette I have a 55 T-Bird I would trade
A friend of mine checked out the cars. He said most are pretty wasted, but he's still going to try to buy something. Story I heard is it was some guy's private collection and his wife threw him out and is now selling his cars.
All I want is a set of the 20's disk wheels (with hubs)- if anyone comes up with a set they don't want- let me know (or if they're going for stupid-cheap prices and someone is willing to float $20 to $50). My folks are right outside of Philly, so they could hold them for me. Thanks, Bill
There's an s-ton of salvageable goodies there... some of my favorites too; Model A, 54 Vette, 40 Ford Pickup, all in my top 5. Why is it that now I live on this side of the US? I guess not being able to go there will keep my future Model A coupe/roadster fund intact.
I work near their "yard", go by there everyday. From what the guys at work told me, this guy hoarded everything he could get his hands on. They said a lot of those cars were "driven there" in good shape and left to rot to nothing. Everyone I know that has stopped to try and see if anything was for sale was not welcomed. He had another lot filled with cars near there that was taken from him and auctioned and the rumor is that he greeted the people with a shotgun when they came to pick their purchases up, so they had to have the police come and escort them onto the property. I thought they had either auctioned this already or that they were crushing everything because cars have been being towed out of there for a couple weeks now. I'm afraid most of the good stuff was taken already from what I've seen go out on roll backs already. I'll definately be there with my friends from work... I can't tell you how many conversations we've had about what a shame this place is, I'm glad to see that maybe someone can save some of these cars... He was on the right path, he bought a lot of cool stuff, just too bad he never did anything with it. Almost criminal isn't it???
Yeah it seems to be the case in a lot of these. I bought a shoebox from Conn over the winter by a similar dude. Old dude, nice, but drove a bunch of oldies into the yard and let em rot, when I brought the 50 home it was too far gone to try and save it.
I was able to get in there and look around last week. No you shouldn't just go there and see if you can get in (shot gun theory applies here). I had an "in" from a local. A lot of it is way far gone to save as whole cars. A lot of trim and bits to be had maybe, but you'd have to buy the whole car to get it. Some of the loose parts will be lumped together in lots so you'd have to buy a pile of crap to get one part. Real shame the guy didn't care enough to take better care of them. Most of them are sunk in mud up to the axles/floorboards or deeper. I can see what Unionville Haunt said apply here about buying it and wind up scrapping it as it's too far gone to bother with.
You have the longest HAMB name ever, I had to change the resolution on my screen to see the whole thing! And its kinda negative to boot...
If my memory serves me right "Evil, wicked, mean and nasty" was on a Roth t shirt describing a 57 Chevy gasser!
