Way too small to be a Bentley, looks like an early 50's Daimler to me.

Triumph Mayflower - we had one when I was a kid - great razor edge styling on those and would make a cool hot rod. Putting a baby Daimler hemi in there would be just the ticket....

  11. Good job Weasel!! I knew someone on here would know. 1951 Triumph Mayflower, 2nd owner and he brought it over when he moved here in the early 60's. Still have the original lic. plates from England and also the log book from it showing the owners and reregistration from new till it came over here. 99.9% complete including the original 36hp motor and 3 on the tree! She is going in the line to be built up just don't know when so a lot of time to decide what way to build it. I always wanted a right hand drive car.

  12. Sunbeam was another of the English cars that was in the running to see if they could sell in the states, around the same time frame 49-54 or so.

    Hey,

The Triumph Mayflower was developed at a cost of over 1 million british pounds in 1949. With a sale price of $1685.00 F.O.B. New York, it's easy to see why not many were sold in the U.S. In 1950, $1700.00 would buy you one hell of a Ford, Plymouth, Nash, Studebaker or even a GM!

I'm thinking a Mercruiser 3.0 or a GM V6 would send it down the road pretty quickly.
And yeah, it's definitely a Mayflower.

  20. Most Triumph Mayflowers were pretty much neglected after their first 15 years. That razor edge styling was a no -go by then. Had one with my mates as a paddock bomb in the mid 1960s. Actually most British cars ended up as bush bashers or paddock bombs back then. Wonder why :p

  22. Sounds like the British term for a field car or beater.

  25. Correct but Morgan91 got the location right. Any old car was called a bomb back then.
Even now if you want a cheap rent-a-car in Australia just google rent-a-bomb.

Cool! I built a '53 Mayflower 8 years ago for an older couple in L.A. 100% stock-appearing on the outside, black over red leather, but with a 2.8L Camaro V6, 200R4, Maval rack & pinion, Mazda discs up front... couldn't even fit a GM type-2 power steering pump so we ran an electric Toyota MR2-sourced unit!

    Neat little car, dude...

    Old Thread Alert

I believe the these cars came with B piller turn signals.

Anyone have pics of the B pillar turn signals out?

I am building a 52 Mayflower and these parts are currently missing and I want to see how cool they look in order to determine how much effort to recreate them.

They are cool, but they aren't what folks recognize as turn signals on this side of the pond in this century.

  30. This is very cool.............Hey badshifter, what motor is in it?
