i could be wrong and someone will jump on this like a stink on shit , the 36 has a lot of wood in the interior .. that said does this truck have wood in the cab? im thinking (which i might be wrong) the 37 is the year chevy went all metal in the cabs..
8K??? Sounds high. Usually a rule of thumb: If some old tin is visable from a main road, it's probably not for sale, or the price is sky high, because you gotta know a bunch of guys have already tried to buy it.
For 8 grand the truck must be near finished and road worthy!!! Sure don,t look like 8 grand from here......
I bought two '37 Chevy trucks for 1500 that weren't running, but they were complete. $8k is just stupid, IMO. I wouldn't think of buying that for more than $2k. There were two different cabs in '36 - the early cab is generally refered to as the "high cab" and the late-'36 is refered to as the "low cab" and is the same as the '37 & '38. The one in the pic is a low cab.
Yeah I got a 39 chevy pu that was in the same situation as yours. Saw it from the road and knocked on the door. got a cab with doors and no rust $600. So id take a close look at it.
I have a '26 lowcab, it had wood in the hinge pillars and continued over the windshield, the rest is steel. The '37/'38 cab has slight differences, but appear to be a lot alike, although, for some reason, the '36 cab looks like it don't need a chop.
Like UNCLEE said, the 36 low cab has wood hinge pillars, dash cross brace and cowl blocks. The 37-38 cabs were all steel but the windshield frame openings were taller than the 36's and they used completely different interior back roof panels. They also had the gas tank inside under the seat where only the 36 one and a half tonners had this ,36 1/2 ton trucks had the tanks in frame behind the axle. For what its worth, Mike.
