If you change cam shaft and use the 265block cam needs oil noch on rear journal no notch no oil pressure

  5. I am not seeing a shield under the carbs. Unless there is a metal plate/gasket under the carb itself (aside from the carb gasket). If that is the case it is supposed to keep the carbs from heat soaking.

@Tim I saw this the other day. pretty slick. The old price is funny, the motor is worth more than the asking price of the car way back when.

Well yours is awesome, and looks to be in better shape that mine when I took it out of storage. Plus, you can actually take your whole family for a ride when the car is finished! I’ll be lucky to fit just my wife and I in the roadster.
Please don’t make the same mistakes I made! I gave it to a local builder before I knew what I had and they media blasted off the paint and completely dis-assembled the car. Then I joined this site and discovered some of the history. My advice is to drive it, take lots of pictures of current condition, and fix/ improve it a little at a time. I’ll be following your posts-thanks!

That auction site we all know and love, or any of the Tri-Five/Corvette vendors. They twist out counterclockwise, may have to file flats on opposite sides of the rivet heads to get a grip on them. Tap them back in with a small hammer.

update...starting to reassemble the motor now...heads are back on...intake on...Butch..you can see where we blocked off the crossover on the intake...everything was clean under the shield....exhaust manifolds are on..radiator removed and flushed..now back on..new radiator hoses ,fan belt and NOS fuel pump...if all goes well should fire it sometime this week...in the meantime I'm taking apart the old wood roof new kit from Macs on the way..that's my buddy Larry in the pics torquing the heads and adjusting the valves,,,BTW Butch, I was wrong...solid lifters not hydraulic.. Ya'll see how much better 265 intake gaskets fit on a 265, rather than 283/327/350 universal gaskets; compare to his tear down pics. Those little tin covers they supply with gaskets set usually don't last long; they burn through. It's why I said I was going to have the dual quad intake I have actually welded up at the crossover. I like your oil pump primer! Fire er' up.

Thanks Butch...we actually made the inserts, they are a bit heavier gauge than the ones you buy...they are aluminum as well...I dont put many miles on my car, so hopefully they out last me;)
