  4. I had that happen 25 years ago in a turbo 400 the plastic drive gear had a worn place and quit spinning. I made it to Wal Mart in Thayer Mo. Figured out the problem. Pulled the bail off the governor cover and let fluid leak all over the parking lot. It was in a 66 chev truck had a cow in the back. So I walked up to the Chevy dealer and bought a new plastic gear. and fixed it. It would pull until it shifted to a higher gear then it was like it was in neutral. I really don't know how I knew what went wrong but my first guess was correct.

Is not the governor, I checked it.

We are almost home, last gas stop.

Taking this picture earlier today felt good.

So I guess that lil Chevy didn't have enough power to pull the trailer? ;)

I bet that would have been a fun drive with an altered wheel base car. The front tires would be off the ground most of the time. Gene

I sold the Lincoln. My wife towed it with her late model truck. No problems with that...but we did have to stop in Deming and buy a couple trailer tires, one had a tread separation starting.

Let me know what you find on the truck trans when you get to it.
Might have a suggestion if it's what I think it is.

Lots of things worked out in interesting ways on this trip. I have nothing to complain about...except the bill from the towing company :)

What may have started with trans problems on the truck helped turn you trip into an adventure that captivated many of us on the HAMB. As I have referred to in the past, memories are what sustain us in our "later years". I often thank God for some of the great memories of life. You have another epic adventure that is and will continue to be memorable.

Tune in next week for the continuing adventures of "The Mighty Squirrel and His Fantastic Voyages"!

The tow lot guys make a tidy living, but hey what's a fella gonna do? You'll fix your own transmission for pennies I bet, and that will help soften the blow.

Thanks for taking a moment or twenty to share your adventures with us mortals.
