I just bought a 64 Chevy pu truck and I'm trying to ID the engine. Seller says it's a 327....The front right pad is stamped V0805FR. I can't clearly see the casting number on the left rear but what I do see looks like 88823 or 23888 because I looking with a mirror. The nearest casting numbers appear to be 302???
    Any ideas ,thanks?

The FR suffix comes up as a 6 cyl. Any chance you jotted the number down incorrectly?

Any one can swap a head but generally the 283 had a power pack head and the 327 had the camel hump head. Though the lower Hp 327 also came with the power pack head.

Yep, it originally came in a 1969 327 2 brl powerglide car. The only 2 other FB suffix codes were for 1955/56 265's, and they wouldn't have side motor mount bosses.
