another roll bar question

Discussion in 'HA/GR' started by moparsled, Jun 21, 2009.

  1. getting ready to start on my cockpit-

Our rules state "Roll bar... higher than driver's head"

Fridaynitedrags suggested "minimum height 3 inches above driver's head"

so my question- 3 inches above driver's head measured from the bottom or top of the bar?

    Correctomundo!

It has to mean from the bottom of the bar.

If, for instance the top of the bar was one inch above his head and the bar was an inch an a half thick, the bar would be one half inch in his head.

It is measured from Top Of helmet to Top Of Bar (Main Hoop). Also if you are building a Roll Bar You need to use 1 3/4" O.D. tubing Mild Steel, DOM, or 4130 Chromoly. Roll Cage is 1 5/8" tubing.
