Yesterday we went to Yosemite in the rental unit while waiting for the tranny to be rebuilt, here are some scenery pictures from Glacier Point. Half Dome By the time we got to Don's shop Butch and Tom had the tranny in and were buttoning it up underneath. That's Butch doing his thing We discovered this frayed cable for the tranny kickdown, Don & I had to go to Fresno to get one, it had to be modified which delayed our departure until 6 pm. Tomorrow we do the big sur. To be continued BB
Bob, thanks for dragging me along on all these trips. I never get anywhere nowadays.... I feel like I should be kicking in money for the trans rebuild.
Wow Bob what a trip. First time I saw your ride was at Waukesha (GG or NSRA), really sweat sled. Over the years it's just popping up all over online and magazines. Glad to see you enjoying it.
Got as far as King City Ca. last night, still gotta tighten the kickdown cable but all seems to be ok with the tranny. Spent the night in a Quality Inn and got on the road to Carmel so we could put the top down for the trip south on Hwy 1 with the top down. Saw a lot of these on trees, I thought that Spanish Moss only grew in the south. I Is this the town that Clint Eastwood is the Mayor of?? It ain't the world famous LONE CYPRESS but it is kinda cool I don't know what these are, prolly some kind of ground squirrel. There are some really neat houses on the beach Beautiful coastline Here a couple of shots of the world famous BIXBEY BRIDGE On the way down to Big Sur Seems like it wants me to quit this session, it is not uploading the next picture. To be Continued. BB
We stopped at this Bar & Restaurant high above the ocean, neat place to enjoy a glass of wine on the patio. I I think that was the name of the place. Elephant Seals, they look a whole lot better than they smell, and they don't even look very good Stopped for the night at Atascadero. Tomorrow we are going on a 40 car run with 3 stops and a cookout at the final stop, should be fun. First stop and I was drawn to this race car with a V8 60 in it. Why not a Y block, this is the motor for the 55/56 Merc he is building A little yard art Along with a bunch of wall art Nice shaded windey road on the way to stop number 2 Getting near the limit of pictures that they will let me post. To be continued BB
Our tour leaders and our host's car at stop number 2. This guy had a yard and buildings filled with all kinds of stuff. not just cars, neat old hit & miss engines, tractors, automobilia plus a lot of scrap iron.
Our tour leader and our host's car. This stop had an amazing variety of old stuff, Cars, Tractors, automobilia etc. here are some pics of a little bit of the stuff. A few of the cars on the run Can you say every thing that could be put on a 36 Ford Back to more neat old stuff This thing was huge, the wheels are at least 15 feet in diameter That's about the limit for this post, Got a few more from today yet. To bee continued. BB
I'm being followed by a 32 Ford 4 Door on a neat 2 lane road What a neat thing to see on arrival at our host's digs 33 Roadster with a track T nose and Nailhead powered with the radiator rear mounted. Another 60 motor, I haven't seen too many Edmunds heads More wall art
Last 2 for tonite. No real plans for the next few days just gonna roam around and stay out of trouble. Thanks for listening. BB
Thanks for the ride along Bob......Hope to see ya at the roadster show or one of the open houses......
Bob, great pics and tour. Brings back many memories of our tours thru CA. You should try to get to Santa Cruz and the board walk, eat at the Santa Cruz Diner, and stop by Half Moon Bay on the way......one of our favorite places.
Love your trips Bob, hope you and Maggie stay safe. "I don't care if it rains or freezes 'Long as I got my plastic Jesus . . . "
I'll be damned, they don't look like the ones back home but then again nuthin out here looks like Wisconsin. They sure are cute though. BB
Bob, It's great to see you two are back on another road trip. Thanks for posting you journey, we all enjoy seeing all the places we may never get to, or have the insight to investigate. Maggie must have some influence on some of the places where you stop. The pictures of your lodgings and dining really add to the tread. Seeing post of your meals you've enjoyed on this trip as well as those on your trip up here to Alaska gives me an appetite. That Cheese Sandwich makes me want to look up that Place. Now you've worn out a transmission. Chock it up as a testimony to all the miles your Chevy has traveled. It's a good thing it didn't give up in "Watson Lake" Canada! You guys seem to take the break-downs in stride though. We look forward to vicariously traveling with you two in your future postings. STAY SAFE. Hope to see you at Speed Week again this year. Best Regards and Good Luck in all your endeavors, KB.
