Suspect you already know, but your hi-idle is caused by the choke hi-idle cam. Shame you lost the wind in the tire, but also suspect the rim has a bit of rusty bits on the bead area. Seems like a lot of weight on that wheel, you might want to try spinning the tire on the rim and see if you can get a more balanced combination of wheel and tire.
Hope you get to where you're heading!

Might require a tube on a wheel that old? Or do you have a pretty abvious puncture?

Wrong tube was put in and it has a fold in side that wore a hole in it. Now I bought a second tube for the driver side, do I change it now or roll the dice, and I see snake eyes in my future.

Inside of rim was cleaned with wire brush before wheel was mounted.

I seen an old timer use baby powder in the tire before the tube when in to help the tube get the folds out.

Your call about changing the other side but most tire shops won't touch a tire with a tube in it so you might be ahead to just go ahead and do it.

Also some people put the tube in the tire and inflate it all the way and then air it out and re fill it to proper psi to prevent it from folding. Just a thought

If it is a new tube you want to inflate it out of the tire then deflate it use the baby powder in the tire install tube then inflate it some and move the valve stem to the side to let the air out from between the tube and tire then fill to liking.

Changing header gaskets I noticed that 2 valves were white. This didn't seem normal to me, is it?[IMG][IMG]

Anything I have to add is second hand so basically worth about as much as a google search. But I'll give the thread a bump so someone like @squirrel can give you a real answer

  12. Generally white indicates the presence of coolant. Are you noticing any coolant loss oh having overheating?

Yeah but it can even happen from just being to rich or lean its not un common for the exhaust valves to be white.

Hey @porknbeaner want to weigh in?

-also bump to the top for anyone else who's got info. I put my bets on it being fine though

Made it to Hudson Iowa and so far so good. Front springs are to light. They are 550 pound QA1 springs. I am looking for some 700 pounders if anyone knows where I can buy a set on this trip.
    Thanks Tony

You can call speedway and have them sent to my house in Kansas City. They should be here by the morning if you call them now.

Also if you don't want to change it in a driveway we can probably find a lift for you to use

Well reports tell me he's made it to Kansas City and is hunting for a tube for the front tire he didn't swap out. Otherwise sounds like he's been trucking pretty good!

Made it to the drags, and had a blast. Best time was my second pass at 15.39. After that pass the truck had problems that I am going to say was the heat. When I went from 3rd to 4th I lost power and had to dance on the gas. Leaving the track was the same. As I got closer to hotel it seems to have worked itself out. I will find out on the way home. Met alot of guys one here and it was cool to put a face to a name .
