I can sympathize with you on the pedal space, as I have a '31 "A" hiboy and size 14 feet:eek: If the car was a '28/'29 I would have to use an automatico_O
I had forgotten about the towing hubs as I never used any of them.
The only car I ever towed with any frequency was a '55
Chevy dirt tracker with a locked 3/4 ton full floater rear end and we just pulled the axles to tow it:)

Hey quick question on trailers, ever seen a setup like this? The sleeve slides forward to hold the lever on the ball. Safe? 0205201448_HDR-1.jpg

I've used them before with no issues. the sleeve should lock in place.

    Well...
A couple of things about flat towing. We do a lot of RV'ing with our Bus and meet up with other like minded folks. There is one fellow that tows his car all over idling in neutral. I suspect 10's of thousands of miles. I don't know what transmission you have but there are other folks that 'flood'...overfill the transmission while towing. This puts the transmission fluid where the pump would put it.
I know that there are articles in RV'ing out there and I know of one that used a windshield washer pump and reservoir to move the fluid back and forth. The other option is a driveline disconnect. https://www.remcodsc.com/ Make sure you use safety chains or cables.
Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

My car trailer has the the same setup. It's an older alumalite.

That is a Bulldog brand hitch. They have been around for years and they only type I will use. The sleeve does slide forward and keeps the ball held tight.
