I just got done making a set of dump tubes for my Dodge for two reasons: one I don't think Moon's chromed version would look good on my little rusty relic and two: at 35 bucks, I'm a cheapass and would rather build my own. That being said, I had a conversation with someone who was looking at the tubes. They said that the flange(the part where the block off plate mounts to, that is welded to the tube itself) should be at least a quarter inch thick. I used eigth inch metal. My question is if the metal is too thin and will begin to warp after a while. The engine is a 271 Super Red Ram Hemi. Thanks.
If you have them both done I would just go ahead and see what happens. Be careful not to over tighten the cap bolts and run a file over the mating surfaces to ensure they are flat. Steve
