Well, not really a barn find, but it was in a 50x90 pole building since 1997. I bought this car today, and will get it out, loaded and have it home tomorrow, with pictures. It is a 1962 Honduras Maroon Impala with a 409 4speed 2 4s engine. Not an original 409 car, but it has been in it since at least 1990. Rebuilt in 94, and stored since 97. I am pretty stoked over this. Owner and his wife dated in this car, went their separate ways and then got together after many years. Has fenderwell headers, an Engle cam tag wired to the hood. Once I get it home and washed(gasp) I will see what I have. Whatever it is, It is MINE!

I'm a huge Impala nut and have owned a lot of them.
The last one i had i built into a 409 4 speed clone. 62 as well, sold it last year.
Im in the process of doing a frame off an a numbers match 63 409 now.
Can't go wrong with a honduras maroon 409 4 speed impala!
    Congratulations!

  9. My first car was a 62 SS, 327, 4 speed. Never seen another one with the same trim package. My car was bucket seats with a console, electric windows and air conditioning.

1962 is the 50th year of Chevrolet. Trivia- notice that your " bowtie " on your hood emblem is GOLD. First year for GOLD !

Well its home. I washed it and I didn't faint. Actually better than what I expected. No compound or steel wool yet. Found some receipts in the car, thought you would get a kick out of them. Still checking numbers. This could very well be a 61 409 . Will have to check with the experts, but block, carbs, intake, all seem to show it.I had to show the bad side, in all fairness, also so no one shoots me. 20150324_190103 (800x600).jpg 20150324_160255 (800x600).jpg 20150324_190735 (800x600).jpg 20150324_190740 (800x600).jpg 20150324_190050 (800x600).jpg

I haven't checked yet, but I do know it is not an original 409 car. The previous owner bought it in 1970 and drove it to high school and dated his woman in it!

Was thinking the same thing :)

    It looks great!
And if that's a gen-u-wine 61 409, you have yourself a very, VERY rare powerplant!!
But i'm sure you know that already. ;)

    Again, congratulations!
