You're thinking gasser... why how odd, with THAT drivetrain?? I'm especially diggin' the OLDS rear. Ordered that axle yet?? BTW, you DO still have the '56 in your avatar don't you? With both cars you're gonna be the coolest kid in the neighborhood !!

  6. Looking good and sounding good brother Butch.......knowing how you put your rides together...this 56 is going to look sweet when done.

From the pictures I see, the new shop looks great....lots of room.....looking forward to seeing more pictures of the 56 as you progress....best of luck with the build.

Yes.....build a gasser....then you won't need those wheels and tires that are currently on it......By the way, I need some wheels and tires for a 55 Chevy.......I think I might like some cragar's, sort of on the cheap side......

You guys are making me hungry.

  10. You might think about a Dana 60. They came out in the 60's so they're era correct.
They're very strong (remember 3/4 ton truck rear), they're about 3% more efficient
because of a more advantageous pinion location, there are lots of gear ratio's availabilty, and you can buy a complete assembly from Strange, Moser, etc for what
a good Olds/Pontiac or 9" pumpkin will cost you. Just a thought, and you KNOW I'm diggin another '56 Gasser!

A real deal DZ302 too? That ought to scream. Is that the scattershield you're using? I assume you cut the b.housing perches off the frame. If you have, hooker super comps #2112 will fit nice(made for the removed perches only). They are for low ground clearance, which it sounds like it won't be a problem for ya, otherwise, I'm just kinda partial to super comps-they always seem to fit good. This is our '57 2 door wagon frame with the super comps.
