Annual 2010 "what did you buy/save this year?" thread

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Chris, Dec 15, 2010.

  1. I seem to do this at the end of every year. I know 99% of the guys/gals on this board are real tin hunters...so lets see em. What did you buy or save this year? Heres my lineup. What will 2011 bring???? For me I hope it's more 33/34 Fords :D

busy year for me as well.
-I finally got to this '63 Impala that my uncle stashed away in 1990. Yes its a 409 car. There was literally about 100lbs of crap piled on the roof.

-Sold my truck and bought the DeSoto for a family friendly build.

-got this pile on trade for labor. Flathead Merc is the only thing im gonna use
    [IMG]

-Went looking for a T frame and wound up buying this the same day. Plans for this are custom frame, Flathead Merc from above truck, and full pick up truck conversion.

2 '55 Chevy 2 door hardtops, one is an old straight axle drag car, also found some old magnesium slots in a storage locker.

A '57 Ford 2 door post that was someone's hot rod, has a 289/3 speed in it and they notched out the front seat for shifter clearance, kinda cool.

A running '38 Chevy boom truck with a big winch on it, from a garage sale

A super solid '57 Chevy 2 door wagon which is already gone.

A chopped '50 DeSoto that was abandoned at a body shop

Plus a '69 Skylark 2 door hardtop and a '51 Dodge truck that I don't have pictures of. My favorite this year though is this '62 Chrysler, I'll definitely be keeping this.

I found a lot of stuff this year, there are cars coming out of the woodwork, not to mention probably 6 or more parts cars that I stripped and scrapped or are in the process.

A pile of 48 ford trucks. So far an F-5 w/ flathead 8, an F-6 with everything but the motor, and an F-1 'rodentbar' that needs the transmission replaced. There's a bunch of camaros and toyota pickups and Rv's that don't count as well.

Traded my truck for this gem. I was told that I was only going to be the temporary owner of this car and as it turns out I may be trading this one for a 50 Ford here in a couple of weeks.

I purchased this from the nicest folks you'd ever get around to meeting. I just couldn't let it go home with anybody else! It's a '50 but somewhere down the line someone titled it as a '49...and just when I got the title transfered to my name, the lady at the DMV insisted it was a Coupe because it only has 2 doors!! Why argue? It's in my name now. So gentlemen, what your are seeing is indeed a 1949 Ford Coupe!:D

WOW, nice 34. That reminds me of those armor all commercials where they pull a car out of a junkyard and with a sprits or two of the shiny stuff it transforms into a beauty!

I'm happy I sold off a lot of stuff this year, nothing major, just stuff I no longer needed. Sad thing it just covered household bills, once "Car Money" mixes into "Household" money it never gets seperated again. I did buy a 1929 Ford Fordor "Steel Back" body section, and have a lead on the remaining parts from another. Got myself working on the '30 Roadster project, that really makes me happy. All in all 2010 was a good year, I got a great Son in Law in July.
