What about Millie, she was pretty cute too, way too cute for Howard Sprague! But nothing makes you feel older than seeing the stars of your favorite old shows grow old. The other night I was watching a rerun of King of Queens, and Millie was dating ARTHUR!
And what about Thelma Lu, she was too hot for Barney, and as goofy as she was, Andy should have taken a roll in the hay with that Darling girl.
But one of my favorite characters----Earnest T Bass.

Barbera Eden was just too much in that dress. In fact, I think my first time was with her in my mind. Or was that Mary Ann from Gilligans Island........

When I was in high school I had a parakeet that whistled along with the opening credits because it was on our TV every night during dinner. Too bad we never had a video camera back then.

Now there was an "over the top" accent!
Lou Ann- Ooooohhh Gomahh, ye'rre soooooo much faawwn!

Gomer liked her, but she was no Rock Hudson.

  14. Barney made that show.
The best TV shows have a certain warmth about them. Andy Griffith was one of them. Some of the newer show don't stand up so well because they are mean natured or too locked into a certain time frame.
Old episodes of Home Improvements seem to have that warmth (Tim Allen being a car guy doesn't hurt it) Mash, Dick Van Dyke. So many.
Does anyone remember the episode of Leave it to Beaver where Eddie and Wally chain Lumpy's "heap" (a cherry 40 Ford coupe or convert) to a tree and when he takes off it yanks the whole rearend, wish bone and torque tube out or the car. Really funny.

  15. The best episode in my mind was the code word HOOTIE-HOO *** HOOTIE-HOO !!!! >>>>.

Yes Mt. Airy has always been the "assumed" Mayberry and has hosted the most reunions. Unfortunately, too many of the key players have passed on to have any more I believe.

Mt. Airy is Andy's hometown, and Floyd's barber shop is still open there. Really neat town, we go there pretty often.

Try to find and watch "No Time For Sergeants." (1958) I think that was the movie that was the springboard for The Andy Griffith Show.
Don Knotts was in it,haven't sourced who else?

"Gomer liked her, but she was no Rock Hudson."<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
Supposedly,Snopes-wise,Jim Nabors and Rock Hudson never met in real life or dated?
Maybe it was because Nabors acted a bit "different?"

  27. From "Opie's Charity" episode...
Opie: "I aint never seen one, Pa."
    Andy: "What's that?"
    Opie: "A half-a-boy."
    Andy: "It's not a half-a-boy son...it's a ratio"
    Opie: "Poooor Horatio."

Gotta love it...now I'm off to see Ronnie Howards' "Angels and Demons". Dang, Opie done growd up.
