This is the best quote ever. It's posted in the After trip commentary section.

"Anyone who doubts the future of humanity needs to take a road trip in a cool old car."

...and with mechanical brakes! take the time to look at the trip photos - stuff of dreams. the speedster itself is REALLY nice.

BTW; the REAL Al-Can Hi-Way wasn't built 'till the early '40's during WW II by the Army Corps Of Engineers ,,anything before that was MOOSE TRAILS ,,,lol,,lol,,

That is awesome :) Some day I hope to go on a road trip to Alaska in one of my old clunkers. Although it won't be nearly as impressive as driving a Model T roadster with no windshield.

I just put it over there a few mins. ago in the racing thread.

Probably the wrong thread but someone will know where it should go.

  16. Funny when your teardrop has more amenities than your tow vehicle!

Reading through the journal makes me want to run out, pick up a Model T and head cross-country!

Two summers ago my middle son and I pooled our money and bought a 73 VW Thing off of Craigslist in Portland. I flew out from Oklahoma and joined him and we drove the Thing up the same road and ended at the Arctic Circle north of Fairbanks.
Seeing this T makes me feel like a complete weenie for needing the sumptuous luxury and dependability of a 35 year old VW. The only thing we did different was we made it a round trip, no ferry boats.

Neet Reading Man !!!! great stuff fer sure ,,Too Bad the Al-Can is ALL Paved Now ,,no more 1400 miles of gravel in the Yukon like it was when i drove it in the '60's ,,,BUT ,,i'm gonna drive it again anyway ,,in my '78 GMC Motor Home with my 2 dogs ,,can't wait to camp along the old trail ,,

  29. I see that some knobend suggested that they made the car "modern" by putting an alternator on it!!!!

Thanks for the ride, it was the best 2 hours I've had on here in a while. Great pix and a great story to boot.
