Event Coverage Amherst or Epping?

  1. Thanks for the replies. Didn't get to go to either due to family things going on. Hopefully next month.

As I no longer have to work weekends, I am looking forward to checking these out this summer.

  3. I talked to a friend that went to Amherst and told me it was $10 to get in as a spectator versus $5 two years ago and $15 if you brought a car to show.

  4. And $55 to vend.

I went to Amherst this Sunday so I guess I'll chime in. It costs 10 bucks to park as a spectator, I'm not sure if they charge the same money if you walk in or if you're a passenger in the car as the only passenger I had with me was six years old and they either didn't see him or they figured he didn't have 10 bucks to spend; either way they didn't charge him. I personally have no issue paying that money to get in but I can understand why others would. I mean you're essentially charging your vendor's customers to come buy their stuff. For me I'm still just happy to walk around and look at / scrounge for junk, if there's no junk to scrounge I'm happy to just check out the cars and BS with people. Either way I probably burn at least 10 bucks worth of donuts, coffee and gas getting up there so I'm fine giving them the equivalent of the cost of a movie ticket to get in, it's still pretty cheap entertainment.

That being said I still think that they made a mistake booking it the same day as NED and judging from the number of vendors I saw (aka did NOT see) I'd say either I was right... or it is just too expensive to sell. Seeing as Amherst got back in the game late they should have booked for the second Sunday of the month. That means a swap meet every other week, why compete with each other if you don't have to? Hopefully NED and Amherst will get together next year and alternate weekends so they don't conflict anymore because I'd personally like to go to both.

I loved Amherst... Absolutely loved it. Scored some great stuff there, sold TONS of shit, made some great friends and ate lots of egg mcmuffins! (TM. McDonald's)

I really hope it's here to stay.

  7. Went to Amherst today because I had to grab a e brake rod from someone. No good in my opinion.

If you are into toys, weed wackers, lawn mowers, torn up mini bikes, or costume jewelry, it was the place to be. Very few old parts dealers. Saw a fire hydrant for sale, so that was nice. Also saw a sweet pedal car tank. It was already sold though.

NED is a lot better. And free! (Cost me 7 bucks to park, and vendors are far apart from each other at Amherst)

Bummer but no surprise. I'll hit NED up next time I get a chance to go to a swap meet.

Hey guys, who's going where now?

Last year there was lots of chatter with Candia going on, but this year I haven't heard much as far as NED/Amherst.

I'm thinking about going and MAYBE vending this month somewhere, so where are you all at?

I didn't make it to NED last month, but am planning to go this month. Not selling, just shopping. Don't even have anything in mind that I need, but ya never know what could pop up! Lots of vendors there last time I went.

Epping for me... It's free parking, easier to get in and out and closer to my house.

I hit the Swap Meet at NED on Sunday. I scored some parts I needed for the roller project I'm putting together and the spare flathead I've got that will be going soon too. Saw @mike bowling, @wheeldog57 * @ABONES too.

Snapped a bunch of pictures in the parking lot including Mike's car.

Thanks for the pictures- that red PU with the front end in the air is one of my favorites! Old fire truck, and solid as a rock.
RPU with a flattie for $7500. wasn't bad either.
    Saw a '32 insert I should have bought..........................crap!
This Swap is getting better all the time.I took a break and didn't vend, BUT
I talked to members of the : Cam Snappers, Strokers, Alter Boys, Torr-nados, Mass. Street Rodders, NH Kustom Kings, KingPins, Ring Reckers- and a few Lone Wolves ( Wild Willy !) It was a BIG turnout!

    HAH, Whaaaat?

This was my first time getting up there and it seeped pretty good to me, as a buyer at least. Lots of race car parts, sure, as there should be I'd say, but I was pleasantly surprised at the decent volume of antique and vintage stuff. I was able to get about half the stuff on my list.

Thanks "Me. GASSER"- yes it's turning out to be a good deal, and it's only 25 minutes from my house, all highway, pedal down driving.
I still kind of miss Candia ( and the "Princess of Dark Roast" in the canteen truck), but I think this one's here to stay.

Here's "A-Bone's" Dad ( at Candia, 2015) going up for a peek ( and maybe even some coffee) Nothing like a tank top and "Daisy Dukes" on the right girl to sell that java!! (No offense to the Lion's Club at NED!)

And the "Motely Crew"- me, Pat Manta, Ronny the "Wheeldog", and Rob "A-Bones" himself.
    All good stuff!!
Sept. and Oct. to go!! Save your paper route money!

I was at NED sunday, slinging a few items. The swap was HUGE. Even Dave Simard was there vending, he has some great (and rare) stuff. Very happy with NED. By the way, you guys are short! Hahaha

Sounds like whoever is running the swap meet in Amherst finally smartened up this year as they decided to schedule it on the second Sunday of the month. That means with Epping going as well we have a swap meet to go to every other weekend!
BTW I have decided to take full credit for this development as I recall writing them a tersely worded email instructing them to do just that... or maybe I just planned to write them an email. Either way I'm taking credit.

  20. I'm returning to Amherst. 20x20 space and split the cost with a buddy.
Maybe try NED on some Sunday when they got a big racing event to tie it in with.

If it alternates with Epping, I might give it another try but last year it was a waste of time.

I had the same question as well as whether or not Epping was going on this Sunday too (?).

I got an email saying that due to "unforeseen circumstance" the Amherst car show is cancelled for this weekend. Back again (supposedly) on June 11th.
Epping will be on the last Sunday of the month.

OK, so Epping is on the LAST Sundays but we have Candia and Amherst going head to head on the Second Sunday now?

The weather is supposed to be terrible on Sunday with 15-25 mph wind and heavy rain.

Little late in responding, and today would've been a wash out anyways but this is what I got in an email regarding the Amherst swap meet and car show.

    "Good Afternoon,

This is to inform you that the car show on May 14th has been cancelled due to an unforeseen circumstance. It pick back up on June 11th. Gates will open at 5am as they have in the past. If you have already paid for the entire season, you will be refunded the fee for the May show. If you paid for just the May show, that will roll over and cover your space for June.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, and ask that you please let EVERYONE you know about this change. We look forward to seeing everyone June 11th!

    Bastion Building Development"
