Projects American Motors Build for the Southeast Gassers

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HEMIBERT, Nov 29, 2017.

  1. With engine problems fixed and a little more time til Clay City, we decided to do something in the paint department. We'll get at least one color on before the weekend. IM015410.JPG IM015412.JPG IM015413.JPG

  3. Not a real one, but a very nice clone.

  5. The Daytona? Been done a long time. Lost most of my pics in a computer crash. Soon as weather warms and I can get it to the door, I need to take more.

  8. She goes and runs. Badly needs seat time to learn. Rain at 7 of 11 races last year meant almost no testing on Fri night before race. Can't learn 4-speeds on 3 passes a week. We'll find somewhere for her to test this season. She did go 3 rounds at first race with 4-speed though.

  9. OH yes, the roof rack stays. She draws the line at putting suitcases up there though.
She was deadly with her automatic car. Not so much with the 4-speed...Yet!
Win or loose, she's a happy camper. 32145530_1987173574626767_8488404567304699904_o.jpg

nice! can't wait to see what you end up with. i'm really partial to that particular chassis. sorry yours was all rotted (AMC started galvanize dip unibodies in i think 62). it's a very well made, solid, stiff chassis otherwise. admittedly with really old-fashioned running gear.

i'm no brand purist, i'm happy to watch you come up with solutions.

bummer about the cracked flattie dual-carb head. those aren't common. though that engine (195.6 ci) is nothing special, it's a solid motor, the evolutionary end of a long Nash lineage. ain't nothing wrong with it. would make a nice turbo candidate. crank and rods are forged.

but your mopar v8 is probably a better choice. the little flattie would have to be a labor of love.

  13. No, there is nothing wrong with the flathead. Fresh rebuild, just took it out. Be nice in a little lakes style roadster.
