Answering the earlier question, who made 2-door wagons? I can't promise that this is 100% correct, but it's pretty close:
Fullsize 49-51 (woodies), 52-61 (all steel)
Fullsize 49-51 (woodies), 56-59 (all steel; unique 2-dr hardtop 57-59)
EDSEL 58 only
Fullsize 55-59 (maybe '60?)
Nomad 55-57 (unique hardtop doors/roof)
Safari 55-57 (like Nomad)
RAMBLER 50-55, 59-63
WILLYS JEEP 46-59 (later too)
INTERNATIONAL & AMC PACER, but who cares?
Never saw a 2-door from Olds or Buick.
I've seen nice 2-door custom conversions of a 51ish Chevy, a 66-67 Nova, and a 66 Galaxie.
I think that's the whole list. If you know of any I missed, please let me know.
yah..the made a 2 door Chevy in in 60 AND 61 I believe. I know of the 60 for sure. Sedan delivery and Glass. - Jimmy
Station wagons are good for having sex in the back of them.
Here's my latest. A 1939 Buick Ambulance/Hearse by Flexible.
I also have a 56 Volvo 445 with plenty of "Patina" and a Nailhead.
My daily driver has a long roof and 2-doors...
1955 GMC Suburban Carryall. GMC 270 under the hood. Almost 50 years of Northwest rain forest patina on the outside.
Chevy only made a 4 door wagon in 61.........Shiny
Pontiac also made a two door wagon in 57, at least in Canada
They also made these, but I don't ever remember seeing one in the last 25 years. I have seen a 58 Pontiac sedan delivery, like the one above, though. Our provincial utility companies used sedan deliveries and panels a lot in the fifties and sixties, so there were quite a few kicking around years ago.
Shiny is right. Last Chevy 2-door wagon was the 60 Sedan Delivery and the 60 2-door Brookwood. Well... that's not true. In 64 Chevy also did a 2-door Malibu wagon, I believe.
I always wanted to take a 59 2-door Brookwood (glass) and chop it 2" so I can use the hardtop/convt glass and then turn it into a phantom 2-door Nomad.
'nother one. Didn't have a pic for a 59 though. Again, never ever saw one
Great additions, all you guys. I was completely unaware of the 57 and 60 pontiac 2-doors, although I realize that many Canadian models were never offered in the US. I have seen some early (49-52 era) Pontiac deliveries, but no windowed 2-doors.
Sorry to have slighted the Chevy Suburban guys. They even made a 3-door wagon!
Many of these must have been incredibly rare. I've seen a couple of fullsize '60 Fords, but never a '61 (although the '61 shows up in Tad Burness' Spotter's Guide). I've seen one '56 Merc, but never a '55. Several of the others appear in print, but I've never seen a live one. Kinda fun to hunt for them, though.
Here's one somebody SHOULD build!
Studebaker's first post war wagon ('54). They only came in two door until 56 or 57.
my brothers edsel project
I have a 60 chevy sedan delivery [that needs it all] sittin around.....as to driving one-I built this sed del from a two door 60 Rambler American wagon-[the factory made some I think] its on a malibu floor/frame....chevy smallblock-
Chevy did make a few 2 dr wagon in the 49-54 era (not sure exactly what years).. They were forest Service cars and ambulances.. Basically 2 dr panels that the factory added windows in .. They were alot smaller side windows then what was in the 4 dr models..
anybody know how many '61 2 door Lark VIII wagons were made?
mine is the only one I've seen..
here it is having a time out.
she will have her day in the sun.
