Damn your '31 is looking awesome so far! I agree with you that your coupe looks better "fenderless"! Did you change your chassis or you simply added the "Ford" I-beam axle to replace the original dual spring front end like mine? The drilled I-beam looks great with the Buick finned drums - KILLER! I'm keeping my dual spring front end for that correct GASSER look, but will drill out an original Chevy I-beam for that killer look as well! I'll need it with the great weight of my hemi! Keep me updated with your project, you're right on target!

I have had my "35" Olds since I was 14yo. It was a barn find, bought it for $950.00.

we have had the 65 chevelle since 1996,,,we got it from an old customer of mine,,he called one day and said if we wanted we could take it to the scrap yard for him,,,, we had to use carb cleaner to drive it to the end of the alley and up into the trailer,,, when he saw the trouble we had he just gave it to us,,, with the original title,,,,, that was 14 years ago,,, my sons 12 birthday present,,, we have replaced everything but the roof and frame,,, but we have done extensive work to the frame,,, notching the rear rails,,, gussets full cage etc

Thanks! I kept the '31 Pontiac frame, cut out most of the original front crossmember, and welded in a repop '33 Ford transverse leaf crossmember to achieve the stance I wanted. Couldn't get the front low enough without creating scrubline issues with the parellel leaves.

Your Chevy is going to look great Gasser style with a drilled I-beam! Checked pics in your album, you're lucky the wood in your coupe seems to be in good condition. Most of the wood around the bottom of mine rotted away, and the wood that is there is not too structurally sound. The last PA Insp sticker on the windshield is from 1963, and I believe the owner stopped driving it because the wood was coming apart.

Really like your choice of color and interior, too. That car's going to scream "60's Gasser" !!!

Great thread. I've enjoyed reading some of you long-term owners' stories about the cars.

I barely made the cut. I've had the wagon for five years. It's a beater but I love it.

I will have the '57 Chrysler forever, no need to get rid of it and it's my all-time favorite car.

I have had my roadster since I was 13 so 23 years, but its only been registered for 8. Just wish I got more time to drive it. I still have my first car from when I got my licence too had that for 20 years. Was the old mans for nearly 20 years before that.

The old man has owned this since '62 so 47 years , then and now shots. His val I think he got around the same time , might have been 63, bought it of his father. He got the cragers off Phil Weiand in '66 he tells me the other night.

we basically don't get rid of anything.

<--My avatar I have had for 10 years and holding.

I also have owned my best friend's 62 SS 409 Impala rust bucket since 1973 after he died of leukemia.

I still own my 63 SS 4-speed hardtop originally bought in 1972. I simply parked it
