Looks like good weathers to boot! Was going to try to make it but got called for irrigation today and no one to swap boards for me. Find anything to take home?
Almost bought some wheels from the ET guy- almost. Still hoping to find a pair of 15x10 straight-spoke Americans for the 56 Bird. Picked up a pair of FE jet boat headers for my test stand for $20, and a 75' 220V welder extension cord for $15. Prize was a very nice underhood (as in NHRA legal) fuel injection tank, nicely made and excellent welds for $40. Saw a guy that scored a very nice early Moon tank early on, and was carrying it around like a trophy lol. There was an old school Alston narrowed 9" with nice ladder bars, locator and wheelie bar mounts for $100, probably should have bought it except no axles- but it was pretty nice. Everybody was just happy to be out
how come I never hear of these swaps??!!! when is the next Bay Area swap meet? drove right past Alameda yesterday morning going to Petaluma to buy a bicycle
It was a great swap meet. I picked up a low millage Flathead AB block that was maged and the studs removed for $200 and from the same guy a new set of old school Johnson lifters for $25. The box looked like its from the mid 50's.
I couldn’t get there early enough to get in to see all of the vendors. I got there around noon and some were already gone. Wasn’t looking for anything really just wanted to get out and back into the car scene. But I managed to score a 65 under the dash AC unit for a very good price. The VW club was there along with some other clubs cars. mike
I saw that AC unit, thought about it, but I already have one that I haven't done anything with in 10 years, and have no idea where it is
I feel better now. I drove right by about 9:00. I was even thinking about the swap meet and the antique show they used to have there.
The Antiques Faire is on the old runway, pretty close, first Sunday of the month. Pretty nice stuff, and some car/ industrial, lots of stuff from storage lockers. I got a very nice larger Kennedy box, completely full of tooling, parallels, end mills, carbides, mics, could barely pick it up, from one of the storage locker guys. Big show, you're a trooper if you can walk the whole thing
Alameda brings back memories when I was a kid living there. We used to go to the drive in flea market every weekend. Haven't been back in 50 years
