Hot Rods air filter option for pm7, slingshot, myers type manifold

    I know there are a couple of options for those of us that need to run smaller air filters due to space restrictions. I was looking for something a bit better than the readily available el cheapo paper filters which I have already. My feeling is that they do restrict air flow.
    My local parts guy is great and knows his stuff.
    We came up with a wix filter that had dimensions that we could work with.
    Wix part number 42158
    Looks ok ,will breath better

    Machine off the lip on the chrome base so that the base of the filter has a flat surface to seat on and replace existing speed nut with nutsert , no chance of that dropping into manifold.

    Cut up the old chrome pot.

    Get some all thread and cut to length,then just put together.
    I did have to trim the top rubber on the filter to get it to fit in nicely.

    This is what I replaced with nutsert

    I ran the others on my 49 ford f1 and like you I was sure they were restricted
