Aftermarket aluminum wheels and shitty lug nuts

  1. When I worked on fighter engines in the Air Force, we used Milk of Magnesia. It was actually called out in the Tech Order.

    One other thing to consider is that there is a big difference in the way that aluminum and steel wheels react to torque. The aluminum wheels are much thicker to resist fatigue, so they hardly flex at all. But the steel wheels are so resilient, they can be made very thin. Since they are thin, they can flex a little if overtorqued. So I wonder if the gung-ho impact torquers are getting by because their steelies are saving their studs. But when switching to aluminum wheels, they can't get away with the same practices.
