Hi I read that a lot of you use Aerostar coils to lower your Fords and Mercurys. Does anyone of you know if they will fit to a 54 Lincoln Capri or if there are some other coils that will fit and lower my 54?
Not sure if they will work on your Linc, but gonna try them on my 61 Galaxie. For the price of them (cheap) I would try them. Better than cutting coils in my opinion.
They won't work in your lincoln . That lovely big Lincoln Y-block is too heavy ( 780lbs) . If you put the aerostars in it will sit hard on the bump stops . .
What engine is in the '61 ? If you have an FE in it the aerostars won't cope. I fitted a set to a customers '57 Fairlane which has a 352 FE in it and had to take them out again. The aerostars work fine in '50s fords with Y blocks or flatties though. ,
shame.....then I must take a look to a shop here in Germany that will build some Coils for my Licoln, ´cause I don´t want to cut the original once. Or does anyone some other springs that will lower the Lincoln two inches or a little bit more??
The closest according to the Moog Chart is this part number 81464 these will handle the Lincolns extra weight: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mog-81464/overview/
