History Adventures of Bad Bob #8....Tom Sparks Open House!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Bad Bob, Jul 29, 2010.

  1. I get a call from a friend, here on the HAMB,and asks me if I want to go to an Open House at Tom Sparks house. I wasn't sure who he was talking about,so I googled him. HOLY SHIT!!!!!! this guy is the real deal! Midget racer,Olympic Cyclist,Drag racer,Dry Lakes racer,Car Collector.....OH MY GOD!!!!!! I was in Hot Rod overload....I asked Chris Casny if he wanted to go,but he couldn't. Bummer, cause he would have loved it.
Okay,i'll shut up and post the pic's.......

Cars parked all over the lawn....

A friend of mine used to live down the street from Mr. Sparks. One day he had several of his cars in front of the house while he was rearranging things and we managed to get a tour. He has such a great set up with the different garages in the back of the house. He had a lot of cars packed in there and he used to rent them out to the studios. I believe he has owned that red roadster since it was raced at the dry lakes in the 40's. If I remember correctly, he is also a bit of a Cord expert and has been a judge at Pebble Beach. I think there is a Rodder's Journal article about him as well.

Thanx for posting your latest adventure. This gentelman is a major piece of hot rod history, what a great collection. A chance to view this kind of important cars and collectable items is very rare, thanx for being such a great connection for all of us to enjoy this. ~Sololobo~

You live a charmed life Bad Bob.

  24. If you google Tom Sparks Hot Rod,there's a great interview with Barry Maguire on Car Crazy. He tells these funny stories about out running motocycle cops with his Hot Rods, haha!
He was partners with Tony Nancy for a while, had his own Speed Shop, worked at another Speed Shop, was a Pebble Beach Judge, won numorous awards at Pebble Beach. Wait til you see all the trophys from Pomona Drags,El Mirage,Rosamond...I just wish I could have taken pic's of more stuff! There were also pic's of him and Ed Iskadarian,Bruce Meyers, and many others...

  25. Sure did dude!!!! Never seen one before. It was just amazing!!!
