. Friend donated a 35 Ford coupe rolling chassis in 100% stock shape so it will be the donor for most of the suspension etc....at least for now. My question is what are some ways to adjust caster with split wishbones assuming I don't quite get it right with the eyeball method? It'll eventually get a dropped axle as build progresses but I'm sure I'll have the same question for that. Any tips welcome and appreciated
Buy yourself an angle finder. The clock face type or a digital if you like. Inexpensive and you'll use it lots. Eyeball method? Planning to fail? Get the tool!! Chris
My issue is I'll be setting up the suspension before I ever get an engine. I have an angle finder I'll be using. My concern is if my questimate without engine is off once actual weight goes on. I'll put heavy blocks on it to provide some weight
Prop the body and chassis up on wood blocks at your finished height and rake, roll the axles under the frame with the proper size tires on them, then pull out the angle finder and start building the suspension to connect them. If the engine is too heavy, you might need to rearch the springs.
Yes, try to do everything mentioned to get it close during the build. There is a general acceptable range of a couple of degrees. But the direct answer to your question about adjusting after the fact is typically pie cutting the bones from the bottom just rear of the yoke, adjust, and reweld.
