Hot Rods Aces Hot Rod Reunion 12 pics

Here's a few pics from the hot rod show this last Saturday. This is a nice event, it was a nice day, a little on the warm side (around 90 I'd guess), but not too hot with a nice breeze. (lot's of places to get a cold drink too) There were lot's of nice cars in a really nice setting. This was a lucky shot. This 34 was rolling in with his buddy in a 32 behind him. I was standing next to the road shooting another car at the time, and stopped to look at this one as he came by. I raised the camera, aimed it and clicked the shutter button, and just as the camera responds the engine backfired shooting a pair of flames up a couple of feet. And I caught it!



I love this car. I've seen it about 4 times, but never had a chance to talk to the owner yet. Anyone know what it is? It wears a 32 license plate, but what make?



So Cal Speed had some nice cars there, and this roadster was super clean (but was trailered in).

Now, allow me to bitch a little. Overall it was a great show, I really only have 1 complaint, and mostly it's about another attendee, but I don't understand why the club allowed it, and even voted the guy "Best Truck".

I got there nice an early, not too earl, I was the 32nd car there, but early enough to pick out and claim a good spot. Everyone that walked in through the main entrance would walk past it. I know my pickup is not an award contender, and getting an award wasn't even on my mind, not even a little bit. This show doesn't take that too seriously anyway, the trophies are all handmade, kind of corny, it's all just in good fun. So all I wanted was the nice view of my car as folks waled or drove in. So here it is

So the club prez was walking around as I was parking, and he made me make sure to get all the way over, off the bricks, to keep the road open in case someone needed to get through, fire department required it. OK, no problem, I got it moved over, everyone was happy. I grabbed my camera and took off to go look at cars and shoot pics. When I came back around about 45 minutes later I see this jackass parks his Apache right in front of me, basically ripping off and ruining the nice spot with the3 nice view I had picked out. I couldn't believe it the guy was that freakin' clueless. It's not like that was the last space and he had no choice, there were plenty of open spaces, he just wanted his effin truck right up in front, so screw me. But what about the big deal the club prez made about leaving the road open, fire department demands and all that. Seriously, WTF??? Not even a foot between them. What a dick.

Lots of nice cars there, thanks for posting the pics. Looks like such a cool place for a car show, where was it located?

 

The venue is Old World Village in Huntington Beach, CA. It's a touristy old German village with shops that support that kind of thing including a ratskeller and a bar. Besides a hot rod show, it's a great place to celebrate Octoberfest

 

I'm not sure what that was. I'm pretty sure it wasn't any type of cloth, but I don't think it was metal either. It was pretty unusual, but hard to tell what it was. There's more pic's of it if you follow the link in the first post.

I remember who you are now @Blues4U. You were sitting on the wheel of someone else's hot rod talking on your phone. You were whining really loudly about the fact that someone parked too close to you. Funny I remember thinking, what a DICK to sit on someone elses car. Did you notice all the other cars parked behind the Apache? That's where the organizers had us all park when we arrived because I was one of them. And trust me, my friend in the Apache wasn't trying to steal your thunder. Lots of cars were parked really close, it was a small (but very cool venue) Maybe you should scroll up and look at your own pictures. The Aces did a great job getting us all in tight quarters. Sounds like you were just sore your truck with fake patina didn't win a trophy. Your pics are good, I'll give you credit there.

 

I never said anyone was trying to steal any thunder. I said he was clueless. He was already parked 30 feet back before moving it up to make room for his buddy in the wagon. So no, that's not where they had you park. Even so, there was still a car length + between his truck and the wagon. WTF, was there some reason he couldn't park closer to the wagon and make a little room there? I don't get it. AND, just further back up the road behind you guys the road was pretty much empty. Something wrong with parking back there?

BTW, nice way to criticize someone else's car, talk about being a dick. Of all the personal attacks & insults you see in threads around here, one thing you don't see is somebody insulting somebody else's ride. Kind of explains the attitude among your club, good job showing that here.

So, back to the pics. What is this roadster? Is it a coupster?

 

So to answer my own question, I'm pretty sure that's a 32 Studebaker coupster, don't know about that grill though.
