Go with the electronic conversion like you were thinking about. It's a little more expensive than buying points, but it will last "forever" and is well worth the expense. You will be happier in the long run. I haven't bought a set of points since 2003 when I converted to electronic.

There have been posts on this. In those posts, NAPA part numbers were listed.

Those points on ebay do not look like the original Mallory replacement points used on the YL 2527501 distributor. Also, the originals do not have the letter "X" in the part number. Here are the original points, Mallorypart #254042
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mallory-250...Parts_Accessories&hash=item56351ef521&vxp=mtr Contact the seller as he may have more than just that one set. When I was using my Mallory dual point YL 2527501 mechanical advance distributor on my 8BA I used Napa/Echlin points CS2300. Then I switched to NAPA/ Echlin CS2301 because they has a little notch on the base that made adjustment much easier. I also used NAPA/Echlin MA3 condenser. Also, when you change your points, replace the round head machine screw that goes through the distributor to the coil, condenser and points with a hex head screw. This makes it a lot easier when you reassemble with the 2 straps from the points. Here's more info. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=403431 To summarize, the original Mallory part numbers for that distributor are: Points #254042; Condenser #400; Rotor #309; Cap 209M. I have heard that Mallory condensers are not the best quality.
To avoid all this hassle, switch to electronic.
