Technical a833/my6 transmission

i picked up a manual trans and bellhousing, it is a a833/my6, it uses a special bolt pattern chevrolet bellhousing. i was told the ball stuck for the z-bar is a chevrolet stud. are the balls for the z-bars all the same size? will any GM z-bar fit on the ball stud or do i need a specific year that the bell housing came out of?
