  1. @WZJUNK How did your brother's truck run with the Big Caddy under the hood?

It runs really good and sounds good. He had 25 miles on it when he left home on Friday and about 300 miles on it when we got to MOKAN. We made a ceremonial pass down the strip but we will wait until he has driven it some before we make a hard pass. It should be interesting.

Racer29, very happy with it so far. It really feels good on the interstate. No heating issues and the rebuild on the 800cfm quadrajet seems to be doing it's job. I'm running a 2:68 gear so big improvements can be made in the rear.

  9. Thanks for posting all the great pics! I didn't take hardly any pics, so thankful you did. Still tired after a long hot day, but it was a good time as usual.

Kool pics! Seems like I visit more than I look at the cars. LOL!! I wish that I would have seen this one. Thanks to your pics, I almost saw it...

    Sancho,

Thanks for taking the time to take all of these excellent photos and then posting them here on the HAMB. It is very much appreciated. I have not made it to the HAMB drags...yet. Your photos serve as an inspiration to get down there and take part in the festivities!

One question: A number of cars are shown in the pits with covers over their rear tires. Is this to keep them clean, keep them out of the sun, or?

Primarily just to keep the sun from heating them up which can cause air pressure differences. On serious drag cars it can make a big difference on how the car works. It can change the rollout distance and even traction characteristics.

    Russco,

That makes perfect sense - I should have figured that out myself...Thanks for the follow-up.

It's funny how rear tire work during day racing.
I will have to let air out of them all day long but not if I am night racing.
