20190201_163742.jpg Not much in the way of work. Installed the cam. #1 at TDC. Extremely small punch mark on crank gear.

    Jim,
Are you running the crab distributor or are you using a 49 to 53 distributor?

I made a tool for setting the valve lash, lets you know what valve is on the heal of the cam. Two revolutions of the crank and your done.

Let me know if you want to use it, cover shipping and I’ll send it off. I have more pics at home.

Wow that looks like a very useful tool. I'll be glad to use it .Just a bit further down the road.
Went to the shop to locate some cam bolts , found them, and knocked in the cross shaft bushings. Baby steps.

    Thanks Cliff.

Hi all, nothing new.I dropped a couple of lifters in a hole to see how smoothly they move, and all seems ok.
Having a ft operation on the1st so I will be further out of the picture.
I may be able to sit in shop and get the lifters and valves installed next.
Having some pretty good weather down south.
Hope to be able to get back on this next week with pics.

    Thanks,

    jim

I had surgery on my left foot so I know what you are dealing with. Doctors orders, stay out of shop. Two more weeks in big boot.

listen to them... I was working on a '34 chassis... had carpal tunnel surgery...week later was bored stiff... walked down to the garage... went to step over the chassis... hung up my boot heel on the frame rail... landed on that wrist [cast]... layed on the floor crying for 1/2 an hour... when they say no, believe it...
    .
had the nerves in my left arm moved from the funny bone spot to the inside of my arm... had a national modified hot wheels race to run 2 days later... took off the sling to race [72 cars]… next day my fingers were numb and as big as bananas for days... dr. said it set me back a month... do what they say....

Foot was tingling this am when I got up. Turned on lights and found 4 stubby sausages and a whopper toe. I haven't followed Drs orders about elevation .Now I will.

    Jim,
How are things going down there? Looking for an up date on you, Joy and the car.

Hope you road to recovery is heading in the right direction and we can again see posts on how your car, motor and transmission are coming along.

Your a great inspiration to the younger guys, hell even guys my age seeing that being almost 80 means nothing but taking a bit longer than the 20 year olds. (Remember those days, lots of time and no money)

Take care brother and look forward to seeing more.

    Hey Cliff, and all.
    Thanks for asking.
Foot has been a problem, now I am in a walking cast, and Dr says stay off of it. Wed while going down outside steps I fell and cut my self up .Other than that all is well. Just no shop time.
I have purchased 2 B'ville doors for the 28. Sold my other doors and one was free. Sorta works out. Can't wait to get back on the car. 8cm eng now has oil pump and screen in place, next is the pan.

    Best wishes to all.

We have pics from Perry Ga swap meet ,my score. Heads, and idler pulley. Still need some parts for the idler. Look at the 8ba heads on backwards on a 59 a block. He says it runs cooler with no problems.

    Jim,
What do you need for the idler? My only thought is how high it will be in relation to the upper hoses with the shorter 28/29 radiator.

I think I spotted a fan in the garage last week and might have a rear cover in there too, let me know.

Oh, and the head thing, I have never seen that before but its one way to move the generator over some.
