My Uncle Dave always has the coolest cars. He is largely to blame for my addiction to cars and motorcycles. Uncle Dave is the genuine article. He raced NHRA events in the mid to late 50's. He had fuel dragsters all through the 60's, and even messed around with nitro injected hydro boats. Anyways, I recently helped him change the wheels on his Chevrolet. He bought the car in the mid 90's from the original owner. My uncle did all the routine maintenance on the 210 from the time it was purchased new up to now and he is still on it. He finished doing the frame off restoration in 2001. We take the car on a few cruises every year, and he always lets me drive. Tell me what you think! From this To this We also changed the springs which lowered the car an inch in the front. Looks like a happy car to me! -Charlie
Uncle Dave doesn't do the internet but he knows about the Jalopy Journal. I will tell him that you guys like his 57. Thanks! -Charlie
Definitely an improvement. I suppose I'd like the new wheels better without the rally wheel windows in them but still much better overall.
I am picky when it comes to tri fives. It looks a little better, but both look modern. I think it would look best with some Torq Thrusts or similar style. I guess it depends upon what era you are going for.
We are kind of allergic to torq trust wheels. We really didn't have an era in mind when we swapped the wheels. We just wanted to see what it looked like. Looking modern wasn't our intention.
Improved, but the Rally Wheels are not my taste. I'd go straight spoke Torque Thrusts because I've always liked them, but understand they are everywhere these days. Maybe Cragar's or even early slots. But if your Uncle likes them, that's all that really matters.
Hey why wouldn't I like a 1957 210 2 door sedan?! Nice looking car there and looks like the "Chevrolet'' scripts were left off of the 1/4s like I did.
That is for sure! Thanks I just checked out your build thread. Your car is really nice man. I love it. Thanks man.
Much improved. Best thing is that it gets driven... some is better than none, more is better than some, and most of the time is best of all. Keep workin' Al
It always amazes me how much effect the wheel/tire combo makes on cars. This is a great example...total change in attitude, and appearance.. Personally don't care for the first style wheels..(but am 70 years old soooo) The second set really separates it from the crowd, although straight reverse painted rims would be my ticket... But hey....not nit picking...great car
