It is curious how a place can resonate with oneself. The quiet little town of Penngrove has a pleasant connection with some of my favorite hot rod escapades. The starting point for several of the annual Nor-Cal Roadster Reliability Runs has been the Main Street of town. The Hot Rod Revolution is part of the portfolio of good times enjoyed in Penngrove. Punctuality is foreign to me, so I showed up late to the gathering. I had my recently mocked up chassis for my 32 r.p.u. on the trailer. I was plenty proud of it, especially the 59L flathead with a set of scarce Elco Twin cylinder heads. Pretty sure that I would wow the boys with my treasure, I found all of my pals amused by the engine. It turned out that there were two other hot rods with Elco equipped engines already assembled on the grass of the ballpark. I got in on time to secure one of the prints. Thanks Ryan, it will be a nice reminder of a fun event. View attachment 6277316 View attachment 6277314 View attachment 6277314 View attachment 6277316 View attachment 6277314 View attachment 6277316
I only made four prints as I’m out of paper. Just ordered some more though… I’d like to do another big print.
As @V8RPU mentioned, Penngrove has a lot of connections for us local hot rodders. I had my Model A at both editions of the Revolution and was bummed when it moved to Austin (although I certainly understand why). So I am stoked to have gotten one of the prints. Ryan, you have done some really nice photography, I am pleased to have one of your pieces. Thank you.
I agree with @Ryan about the elusive magic of film when it comes to photography, and especially true of photographing cars. Nice shots Ryan.
