Sweden is packed our cars.. especially the ones from the 50’s. From the phots I’ve seen they really take care of them also.
Thanks, that's a great observation on our worldwide hotrod obsession. Some years back I was pretty much daily-driving a rescued and revived '62 Pontiac Catalina 2-door hardtop. It was parked outside our shop one day when I saw a pickup pull in with a '62 Pontiac 4-door sedan on a trailer. A couple guys came inside to ask if my '62 was for sale and it turns out one of the fellas was from Sweden. He bought the car on the trailer to have it shipped back home and at the time had made a number of trips to the U.S., mainly around MN and the Dakotas, just to buy old cars. We had a great conversation and did trade contact info which unfortunately on my end has been lost to time. So those Scandinavians have been pretty old-car savvy for a long time. Whether they build 'em there or ship 'em in, they definitely know what's cool.
I had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with some people from Sweden at Carlisle and Hershey, also at a small swap meet a the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing. They speak English better than I speak Swedish. We may speak different languages, but we all agreed that we all spoke Hot Rods.
