    Fred Teixeira sitting in the Willys after 40 years telling me stories and giving me a seat height and position....note the Ford 16x5 seat riser.

    So I started fabbing the adjustable seat riser. I would love to run this monster.

    And the finished product....Fred told me in the class he was running in 1966 they had to see through the door glass your shoulder and helmet....so when he came up to the line he had the seat forward and when the stage started he moved his ass back as far as it would go for weight distribution....sneaky devil. >;-}

    Excellent thread. Good to see the old girl getting a authentic restoration instead of being turned into a bracket racer or worse yet a fake, street driven race car. Having Fred right there to guide you..............PRICELESS!!
    Keep the progress pics coming.

    I have to agree with Fab32 - the most valuable resource you have for authenticity is Fred. And your work is FAB-ulous.

    Skip would you care to share Fred's take on what you are doing? Perhaps he can relay some words via you for us guys on the HAMB about what it means to him. Man it must be bringing back some memories.:)

    Freds dad had a pail of B X 10 traction compound he would paint the rear slicks with a brush after every round.

    I asked Fred where the brake handle is positiond?.... Fred told me he would let loose of of the brake stick and it would hit him in the nuts and it made him mash the pedal quicker....so I guess he just told me the position....he is a fun old guy.

    So how many times do you think Fred will let you smack him in the nuts while you're locating the handle position?
    Awesome job Skip, I think you should do this for a living...............

    Mark,
    Keep the pics coming. This is my favorite thread right now. Great work.

  24. Man that is cool as hell. Listening to the stories and the knowledge from the racers from back in the day is priceless. The build is progressing nicely. I think it will be a gem when it's finished>>>>.

    Should be very strong....I made the framework so that it imulates the pattern on the fenderwells. I will make two small removable covers around the base of the roll bar so it can be removed and chromed.
