It finally happened fellas, I got my 34 Ford.. Seen an ad on the internet one day on break and decided to see if the fella would split up the bundle he had listed and sure enough he would. so I sent him 500$ to hold it till next weekend and I made a plan and sold a buncha stalled projects and engines and got the rest together and went on my way with a good buddy to the speedway museum. Turns out I bought it from the curator! Tim Matthews. stand up guy jus as nice as could be! But it doesn't end there.... 34 coming home.jpg

After getting it home I began lookin for anything and everything! Don smart sent me a message and sent me some of the nicest patch panels you could ever ask for! ill show those later in thread. I ended up getting a old dirt track frame from @Cactus he cleaned it up a lot, Jimmy flowers offered his help and early ford parts hoard to help me get it on the road asap! we went to town removing the rest of the dirt track tricks from the old car such as the 3 inch wedge welded under the front spring perch haha

Jimmy welded up every crack and hole he could find and we made sure she was square to a 16th of an inch, I had an old T spring crossmember and he had a spring so thats what she got and man it got her lower.

today we worked on patching the B pillars and making them whole again as this was an old dirt track car that raced in south Dakota in the late 50s and 60s. and this is where Don Smarts panels come in. These things fit like a fucking glove!

Had to cut the fire wall out to move back about an inch, and cut out the C pillar support on the floor as it came out of a sedan.

  19. Sounds like a guy named Don who is smart (intelligent that is) he he.

  20. Looking good! I bought that frame off of Jimmy probably 15 years ago. It had a LOT of shit welded on it! A crazy “X” across the back made of 1” solid round stock with a model A axle welded on as a rear spreader/bumper. Not to mention all the other dirt car mods!

I've thought about this car for decades now, It feels surreal to be this far. I bought it in June and really have about 4 days in it so far.

    Pretty damn remarkable.

What Austin and Jimmy are doing it nothing short of awe inspiring. From the drop everything, sell everything, life getting in the way in every possible manor Austin really persevered and illustrated his answer to “how bad do you want it?”

we’ve talked about this car for at least a decade together and a lot of people would have given up even getting the body home with the challenges that decided to crop up.

IMG_7523.jpeg For what’s there is extremely solid. For what’s not there. Well as he showed it ain’t there! A pretty dang good gutted track car it’s got a ton of character and good vibes in person. IMG_8114.jpeg this is FOUR work days of progress.

Major frame repairs and straightening. Jimmy and Austin seem a dream match, Jimmys got the recipe down and Austin is as hard of worker as you’ll find outside of a John Henry poster. I wish I could have been more help but
The jump in and cut that shit out and replace it with no hesitation was really fun to watch. IMG_8108.jpeg new floor, new sill plate rockers, new spliced B pillars new door halves, cut the door off the car and hang it back with hinges that wasn’t even all of one day. This things gonna kick major ass and it’s all 100% old ford IMG_8105.jpeg powered by his grandpas flathead he’s sure to make the gathering at the roc. Come give him a pat on the back as he crawls out of this Tom fritz painting in Oklahoma and be sure to stay tuned! He’s got some awesomeness in store!

    really proud of you man.
