That's the second car I've seen with a Christmas Tree painted on its side with four ambers. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't early trees five ambers, and then NHRA switched to three ambers, to speed things along? Never four

Redd's Auto Parts Speed Equipment Specialist

 

The Redd's Anglia was owned and driven by Eldon Huffman from Louisville, KY. Eldon was a fireman for the Louisville Fire Department. Prior to the Anglia, Eldon raced a 1955 Chevy gasser also sponsored by Redd's Auto Parts. I can remember riding my bicycle over to the neighborhood fire station and watching the '55 being worked on. Eldon probably would be more familiar to everyone as the driver of the Barracuda Funnycar that broke the rearend loose from the chassis at Indy on the starting line and twisted the car body very badly. After Eldon hung up his helmet he built a VW powered dunebuggy and equipped it with top of the line fire fighting equipment. NHRA was so impressed with the fire buggy that he was asked to attend their events and was instrumental in aiding the Safety Safari. Eldon passed away several years ago but his name is still well known in NHRA as both a racer and a Safety Safari member.

I bought this stocker in the mid-sixtys when I lived Northeast Phila., Pa. Had big plans and stored it in a girlfriends garage but when we broke up her father made me move it. Sold it to I believe a Rick Conte and he got it running. Like to find out what happened to it. Mantuajohn
