I haven't seen it, but he says it is complete. Last time it was driven, was by the owner's brother who drove it into a ditch, about 30 years ago. Question is: he says he won't sell it to me, since I would turn it into a "hotrod", which he is right. He wants it restored. Should I lie to him to get it and do what I want or move on? I ask him on occasion. He hasn't given me a price. What would you do?

  3. Maybe it's my morality, but I wouldn't lie to him. Might cause some tension in the work place if he finds out you hot rodded it. Personally, I'd just move on. Maybe it'll come up when you least expect it, or he'll get in a money crunch and be a little less concerned about its future. Just my .02

37Kid is right, there's no use in lying. Nothing good comes of it. Luckily Ford made a gazillion and they're easy enough to come by.

I drive stock model A's and I belong to the san fernando valley model A club. The thing that I dont understand is what would I care if I was selling my model A's what the buyer was going to do with them as long as his money was good and I got my asking price. there is no guarantee the who ever buys it will keep it stock.

Find pictures of a mild hotrod and show him what you would want to do to it. That way he can see things from your point of view. I've noticed a lot of people have different ideas what a hot rod is

I wouldnt lie to him, I would just make my offer and leave it at that,, if he dont bite, it may take time.
or go buy another A and show him what he's missing..or not

I dont think i would waste too much time on him..30 years in the family, it aint going no where fast

Dont lie to him. Help him find a restorer that wants it. The restorer might just have a body he would unload to you at a good price for helping him out. Just a thought..

    Never LIE !!

It is just not worth it. Like already said ... Ford made MILLIONS of Model A's ... ( over 1.2 MILLION Two door sedans :D :D ). If you really want a Model A ... make him your BEST offer and then go find yourself a Model A if he still says No. :) :)

Find a picture of what you want it to look like and show it to him. Go with a mild hot rod, fenders and all. Maybe he will change his mind.

Time to move on; it's been with the same family since crashed 30 years ago, and won't give you a price...that means it is really not for sale...

  13. If you always tell the truth, you never have to remember what you said. People have thier reasons for not wanting to sell stuff to other people, I'd move on and find a different one, maybe that has'nt been driven into a ditch.

If you lie to him, it will haunt you, and you will probably wreck the car, and it will catch
fire and burn to the ground. Karma... Do you ever watch that show "My name is Earl"?
USAF code of conduct.. "Integrity first", "Service before self", "Excellence in all we do"

The middle one could be open to interpretation.. Sucks when you have a family, and
the service uses that one against you, to get you to do what they want.. but I
digress.. Don't lie to the dude, no one will ever trust you..

  15. Really ? A Should I lie question ?
What the hell is wrong with people.
Was. Elementary school that long ago, or haven't you gotten that far yet?

Hell dude, just tell him if he gives you the car, you'll quit boning his old lady!

    That should help.

Tell him you want to make it a "bolt on" hot rod. where as everything could go back to stock fairly easy. then make a screamin banger outa it.

Never lie....your dignity is more important than a hobby

  18. If he cares that much what happens to it after the sale, It's probably not really for sale..

I'm in a situation where the previous owner of my coupe is pissed at me because I'm hot rodding it. I never lied to him or told him I wasn't, but I never mentioned I was... I didn't think it would be that big of a deal to him what I did with MY car, but apparently it is.

Don't lie, that's just a basic rule. Find another car. There are plenty of model A's out there, believe it or not..

  22. A person only gets to lie to me once. After that I weigh everything they say if I listen to them at all. You will never know how many doors you close with a lie.

Tell him that you won't drive it into a ditch, (but no more) and that way you will be viewed as taking better care of it, than his own family has !

That might be the best of both worlds. I can't see lying to the guy to get his car and lying to a coworker to get his car is nuts. That will come back to bite you in the butt in more ways than one.

And if you haven't seen the car why are you getting so worked up over it?

chances are the reason you havent seen it, or that he wont deal, ..is probably because he doesnt have the family athority to sell it to anyone...you could probably bet money on this

what should you do? stop bringing it up to him and go buy what you want..show it to him later when your done

Buy somebody else's Model A, hot rod it any way you like, and then drive it to work, but never mention his car again.

Let him ponder his own situation on his own.

  28. Move on you still gotta work with him and I am damned sure that your lie will find you out.

There are a lot of Model As out there.

There are no lies....just lack of truth. At least that's what Einstein more or less implied.

Go find someone who wants to sell & buy their car.
