Atch, budssuperpro, and salflats! The came to my wife's aide last night and today. The truck she was driving broke down last night out on the lonely highway quite a few miles from where I was at. All I could do was talk to her on the cell phone that was way low on battery power, so the conversations were real short. Atch grabbed his wife (which I'm sure he does a lot...) and a battery from one of his vehicles, then drove around until he found my wife on the side of the road. Meanwhile budssuperpro contacted his friend and fellow HAMBer saltflats (who runs a cool auto repair shop, from my wife's description) to see about fixing whatever was wrong with the truck. Atch got the truck limping all the way into Columbia running in the battery he brought. Apparently they drove about an hour to get into Columbia-all the way on the battery. Atach takes 'charge' and gets the truck to an auto parts store to find out the battery is dead (uh, yeah). New battery in place and the truck is still displaying idiot lights on the dash. I tell my wife that she's all set up with saltflats to take a look at it this morning and to do it since I don't trust the stupid truck now. Good thing she did, the alternator was toast, too. Saltflats took good care of my wife and the truck and my wife and son made it home safe and sound. A BIG THANKS TO ALL THESE GUYS AND THOSE WHO OFFERED HELP LAST NIGHT!!! I can't thank you enough! Really, I mean it. Over the years here on the HAMB, I've heard and read over and over: It's not only about the old cars, it's about the people. This is a good example of the fine people here. Not only knowledgeable, but pure gold. You three now know that I am publicly indebted to you. r
Pay it forward. I too have experienced the power of the good people of the HAMB. Thanks again Greg Pellicer
