Nice project......Outstanding motor! My friend, Scotty Bowman, owned a 12 cylinder 745. Excellent mechanics.

I'm way too lazy right now to do a proper photoshop rendering....but have you considered NOT making it a truck and moving the ass end up a bunch?

Yes I did consider making it a 5window coupe, but my son said no. He told me we had to keep it a truck. Im a single dad and he is the boss....

My son grabbed a fender trim I had in the shop and put it on the top of the truck, he told me since I was using a hood for the roof section I had to use a hood ornament too...

I was a BMW senior master tech for more years than I like to admit...Got my Schullung pass in 1967, liked the product.
When the new Coupe came in, (1987) I PDI'd one, then road tested it that evening. The 5-speed Coupe charged out of the hole very reminiscent of my '63 409, in earlier days.
I lit the tires in 1st and 2nd, man what a powerhouse. (for a 'foreign car')
I applaud you for your insight, and clever application of 8-71 pump and MSDs. Now, show these guys.

  20. Interesting build! I was afraid to open the thread, expecting a bunch of non-traditional drama. That engine looks great with all the crap removed.:D

now that's a single dad and son project if I ever saw one. I'm glad you're using a late model off the wall motor, I love seeing people get creative.

Ok now for a little suspension, The rear suspemsion I picked up for it came out of a 97ish Lincoln Mark VIII with 55,000 miles. fully independant with disc brakes and air bags. The center is a 8.8 like the Mustangs, so gearing will be faily cheap and easy to find. I went to pick and pull on a discount day and the whole setup was under 200.

The plan was to use the stock sub frame from the Lincoln and have it bolt to my Willys frame. I built it and stood back and looked at it and thought,,,,damn that looks like shit.

This is before I cut it back apart

The big tires are gone now as well
This weekend I will finish the rear suspension and post more photos

In the front I have a dropped tube axle(which I hate the look of anybody want to trade axles)

I decided to run a suicide setup I want to be low and dont want to Z the front of the frame

    Backing plates back from powdercoating

I have been working on the front suspension, here is a photo of it kinda mocked up. I just ordered a dropped I beam axle. Finally I can get rid of the tube axle.
