It did come with a hood fortunately. Appreciate the offer though.

    I don't unfortunately...

Well... I hate to say it but the '36 will be FOR SALE here within the next few months. My wife and I had twin boys last December and the '36 project is going to be sent down the road to make way for the new family hauler I just picked up. I replaced the OG mechanical brakes with some '39 wide 5 juice brakes, reversed the spring eyes and added a dropped '36 axle. I cleaned up the chassis quite a bit and am planning to put a coat of epoxy primer on the body and fenders and start getting the car put back together here shortly. Below are some pics of the chassis from last weekend and a pic of my new toy. Sad to see it go but it's been fun while it lasted...

Keep an eye on the classifieds and pass the word on!!!

Why not offer back to the old guy that had it in the first place, without charging for your labor just material.

Congrats on the twins and the beautiful Edsel Wagon!.
Glad you're letting the 36 go down the road to someone that can hopefully go right to work on it.
Though I'd hesitate to throw a coat of primer on it. I'd bolt it all together as is.
I'm not alone in saying I'm very leary of looking at a car for sale in fresh primer. Buyers will always question what the seller may be hiding. That body looks beautiful as is and has nothing to hide! The buyer will probably sand all the primer off to start his own prep work anyway and use his own 'system' brand of primer. It may be a tougher sell in fresh primer than nekkid to the world as is.

I totally hear ya and understand what you're saying... With that said, I've already sanded a good amount of the car down and there are quite a handful of bare metal spots. I plan to take plenty of photos of what I'm priming over to show the next guy in line.

You are going to use the original 36 steering box set up?

I would try to figure out how to keep both of them. Take the advice of an old man once you let something like that go the money goes with it and you will never have another chance at one that nice from and old man who has been there Tom

  16. Hit the bare spots with Picklex 20. Its cheaper than primer and will not rust as long as It doesn't get wet. If you decide to keep the car, wipe the treated areas with wax and grease remover, then another mist coat of Picklex and it is etched, ready for primer. Just don't use etch prime over it.

I am... If I was planning to keep the car I would swap to the '37-'40 type box.

I totally hear ya Tom... I've tried every which way to make it work but gonna have to let it go unfortunately. Like we always say... Wish we could keep them all. Selling this '36 will pay for the new Edsel wagon I just picked up and I've got a '32 sedan as well. There will be more... :)

Body is definitely in great shape... Bit of rust in either cowl bottom, a bit under the decklid and some in the floors. Aside from that the body is pretty straight!

Too bad you have to let the '36 go but that '59 Edsel is pretty sweet!

Well... I was able to get a little further along on the '36 and on Saturday a buddy of mine came over and shot some photos for me. As of now, it's looking like it's headed across the pond to New Zealand!

They're actually 5.00-5.25's up front and 7.50's out back. Wish they were 5.50's but it's what I had on hand.

Thanks man! You're 3 window is turning out insane by the way!

Nope! Definitely one I'm gonna regret but just don't have the room. I have a '32 sedan and a '59 Edsel wagon already taking up the 2 car garage.

    Thanks!
