My Uncle Charley had a red w/white top '56 Buick hardtop and all it needed was the spinner caps. Nice Shoebox for sure.
Kills it for me....and I cringe to admit it(as I think the world of Mr Pratt)....but I'm a color guy. Then again, nobody asked me, so....
I totally agree. Very reminiscent of the second version of the Larry Ernst Chevy. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
But that lime green panel has me scratching my head. Thought it was just me. Don't get it , but then again I miss a lot. Picking up one of the interior colors makes sense to me. Of course my toy is flat black.....
Yep. Agreed. It's an educated custom that I think appeals to folks that have a passion for that era and understand the nuances.
That car is perfect. The use of the '55 Chevy trim is a stroke of genius. If somebody described the car and colors, "Shoebox coupe in copper and lime green metallic," the initial reaction would be "huh, wtf?," but seeing it, it sure does work! Sorta like music – a little dissonance makes things interesting.
Thanks Ryan, It's nice to see John's photos finally being put to use. I can't wait to see what else he passed on to you. Regarding your introduction, to this day I can't figure out what we hit on the road trip to Salina. One correction is in order though, I put a 401 Buick motor in the car. The original idea was to install a Y-Block but the one I got had a crack down the middle of the lifter valley and then the Buick motor showed up. Thanks to all for the comments, I'm surprised it took 16 responses before my color choices came up.
I have never seen a Lee Pratt car or one of his color combo's, I didn't like. That is one tasty custom!
That is exactly what I would build if someone said "build a custom"! Love this car! A good buddy of mine that is a fairly well know painter here in town, can't STAND the paint color choices. He says it gives him a head ache.... Not me man, I get it! WAYYYYY GET IT!
