I'm sure it can be done but what does it take to make this happen? Is it worth doing? I have a 8cm cam laying around wouldn't mind using it the numbers on the cam look like a nice upgrade from the stock 59ab.

    Thanks rich

That is a slightly hotter cam, but not really into hotrod territory...the later '52-3 merc cam is warmer still. It will go right into the 59...you can pretty much consider innards '39-53 to be swappable. It requires either swapping to the late ignition, though, or having surgery that would likely cost well towards simply buying an aftermarket 59 cam, and then you will need to find a good distributor to suit that.
Stock late distributor should not even be considered, recent Mallories require a rebuild and careful checkup of advance. Converted Chevy or early Mallory would be most common swaps.
The stock 59A distributor is cheap, easy to redo, and would be the best bargain route...
Early setup also is better if engine is going into a hotrod, as the late ignition forces a longer engine that can be hard to stuff into a Model A in comparison to the shorter early rigs.
