Hot Rods 8BA Head Gaskets

    What's the best head gasket to use between aluminum heads and the cast iron block. I would think copper would be a no go.

    I also see where people use some kind of gasket sealer. Never done that with head gaskets before on all the SBC I have rebuilt. This is my first Flathead V8 so be gentle.

    I've had good luck with Indian head gasket shellac

    I have had really good luck (i.e. NO failures) with standard perf graphite based Fel-Pro head gaskets in all kinds of street flatheads, most with aluminum heads and iron blocks.

  4. image.jpg I have no problem using big bore COPPER head gaskets with no sealer applied.I have even reused them several times with no problems sealing!
