Anybody put Hurst 30 10 15 cheaters on 10" rim? Steve recomends 8" to keep sidewall looking correct. They'll be on 50's chev.
I have them mounted up on a 8" rim. I think 8" looks to skinny and the tread area isn't flat but humped up high in the center. But I haven't ran them or had weight on them yet. But that's what was recommend to me also. " 8" is perfect width" is what hurst says. For comparison, Chevy mounted 31-10.50-15 tires on 7" wide wheels for k series trucks and blazers.
Narrowed some, tubs widened a little, (outside portion of wheelwell), '51 chev, about 12 1/4" total clearance, negative bs with 8", middle/ normal bs on 10"? I guess my question is whats the total sidewall width if mounted on 10" and do they look good? Hurst says total with 8" is 10 1/2 - 10 3/4.
Howdy! Dad should have told you the 8" rim on our 30x10's gives you 10 3/8" to 10 1/2" cross section. And the 10" rim on our 30x10"s gives you an 11" cross section 8's should be dam near flat accross the tread face. The attached pictures are 10" wheels on our 30x10's Hope this helps you.
