In a year that we have seen many events canceled and for good reason, we have decided to go ahead with the Oklahoma Hot Rod Hundred after much consideration. Since this is for the most part a driving event, social distancing should be pretty achievable. This will be the first run we will have this year after cancelling the SW Missouri and NW Arkansas runs and then rescheduling Wisconsin. Anyway, this year we have decided to make the drive somewhat of a loop to keep it simple and not make a 100 mile drive turn into way more than that depending on where you are coming from. We will start in Arcadia, OK at the softball complex near the Route 66 attraction Pops. We will head up Route 66 and then head north at some point until we loop back around to Guthrie on the two lanes where we will end at Jerry’s Wrecker which may be one of Oklahoma’s best kept auto and automobilia collection secrets. Jerry has several restored old cars and wreckers, a restored 1946 bus turned into an RV, a 1947 car transporter, a restored Valentine diner among lots of other cool stuff as well as a salvage yard that still has lots of old cars in it as well. We are still working out the actual route specifics, but have the start and end points nailed down. This year, we once again have our t-shirt artwork from B-Scott Studios and it features Jimmy Spears (gonmad) wife’s 58 Nomad from Springfield, MO as well as Rodger Bell’s 34 Ford roadster from St. Louis. For more details and updates, check out http://www.hotrodhundred.com/oklahoma-city.html where you can also register online. If you are like us after the year we have had, we are ready to go for a drive...

Well, the swap meet is something I didn't even consider as we picked the date this year. That was definitely oversight on my part. We mainly wanted to miss some other local events that we have also historically had issue missing and with all the rescheduled events this year, it is definitely tough.

Anyway, registrations are coming in and we are up to over 30 so far. Over the years, we have had as many as 250 or so on this run and hope to have another good turnout this year. I went out and talked with Jerry of Jerry's Wrecker to work out some details on our final stop and I think everyone will enjoy it. He has some pretty cool stuff out there and continues to collect. I know he will be glad to show off his collection to many that have never seen it.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me here via private conversation or by phone at 580-370-5852.

Oh, and here are some pics of some of the bigger things in Jerry's collection.

Pre-registration will be open through September 20, so a little less than 3 more weeks. The owner of Seaba Station Motorcycle Museum contacted us the other day to see if we would consider putting them down as a stop. They have a pretty cool collection of motorcycles and memorabilia and just happen to be having a swap meet that day. So, something else to look forward to along the drive this year. Register here if you want to get your car out and drive the two lanes with us on October 3rd.

I hate to hear the swap meet has been cancelled. I grew up going to that one back when I was a kid when it was at the museum. I remember feeling like it would never end and wondering why my dad drug me up and down every isle right up until I was old enough to be looking for my own stuff. :D

But, we would be glad to have you come drive along with us. So far, we are sitting at about 60 cars or so and expect that to still grow quite a bit over the next couple weeks. Not sure what to expect this year with the pandemic, but we have been between 150-225 cars for a few years now.

We are up to almost 120 cars pre-registered and still climbing. We will close down the pre-registration this Sunday, September 20th so the only opportunity to register after that will be the day of the event. However, those that register at the event will miss out on a cool shirt and great lunch.

I keep seeing other events cancel both before and after this...we aren't cancelling, so come "social distance" along the two lanes with a bunch of great cars and people.

Last day to pre-register and sitting at about 140 cars right now. Should be another great drive on the two lanes and I may go make sure of that today by pre-running the route since the weather is about perfect for that sort of thing.

Closed pre-registration at 149 vehicles! And, I had my 15-year-old son with his driver's permit drive me on the route Sunday to make sure it was good and get him some needed drive time. We are taking the long route to go just 21 miles from where we start...but it is about the drive.

Folks will still be able to register the day of the event too, so even though pre-registration is closed, it isn't too late to drive along with us. Here is a pic of the route and an example of what the awards will look like (although these are specifically for St. Louis and Wisconsin that are also next month). Alan Childers that works for Steve Cook Creations is quite the talented guy to do the artwork he does on our awards. Can't wait to see the Oklahoma awards when he gets them done tonight.

Nothing like waiting until the last minute to get my own stuff fixed for the run coming up Saturday. Anyway, looks like the weather should be good and I have heard from several that are planning to just register at the event. Guessing we may end up with close to 200ish cars running the two lanes in central Oklahoma Saturday. Should be a good time!

Oh, and picked up our two awards from Alan Childers for the run. Now, all I need to do is go see B-Scott in Kansas tomorrow to pick up some shirts.

Had a great day yesterday and ended up with about 220 cars going along for a drive on the two lanes. There were several HAMB friendly, but several that aren’t as well. I’ll try to sort through some pics and post a few tomorrow.

Here are a few pics that are mostly HAMB friendly while I am thinking about it that I took. I am never as good at taking pics as I should be getting distracted by talking to folks, etc. However, talking to folks is why I do this stuff.

Well, we haven’t set a date or place yet. But, I am sure liking the early October timing we had this year as far as the weather is concerned.

Ok, shoot, I read that wrong! I thought you had a new “ club” near Muskogee. Porum has a lot of “ car guys” , for a small town!
