    Hey Guys,
I'm going with a 700R4 tranny behind my 235 in my 41' Chevy coupe. Does anyone make a bolt on crossmember for this application? I did this swap on a 63' C-10 a few years ago, and it was very easy. Bowtie Overdrives had everything I needed. Looks like it might be a little harder on this coupe, but I think the outcome will be worth it.
    Thanks for the help,
    Tim

Not much difference in length to mounts, 700R-v-350 and definitely shorter than a 400. Looking at Chassis engineering, 350 mount appears to sit forward of centre x-member. 700R transmission pan is wider at rear, the centre-member leg may require slight surgery similar to installs on 46-48 Fords. Not hard to fabricate a mount from 3/8" plate. A 200R would be more than adequate IMHO behind a 235.

A 200R4 might work fine. I've never messed with one, but I have been told hey cost twice as much to rebuild than the 700 does. There seems to be a lot more 700's for sale than the 200's. At least around these parts. It would seem parts for my 41' stock, or custom are going to be harder to find than my last couple of builds.

T-200-4R's can be built to drive over 1000hp.
I just installed one in one of my projects. Though it's not nearly as beefy as my two other 200-4R's...they both have trans. brakes and can hold the power mentioned.
The one I just installed is lighter duty and is for my daily driver.

I can't understand why folks still use the 700-R4. Even GM decided that they screwed up the gear ratios and fixed them with the 200-4R.
    The T200-4R is -
    Smaller
    Lighter
    Much better gear ratios
And can withstand the same or more engine power thAn the 700-R4

P.s. - Sorry...following TBilbrey post and getting away from the original question

I have a 41 coupe with a 700 in it. When i bought mine someone had already cut out the middle section of the k member. i just used a piece of angle iron on the back side of the k member to mount the trans. then you still have the stock mounts for the booster/master.

Less reciprocating mass (200R) behind the 6cyl; this equates to less power to move the car. You still need to set up the TV cable correctly and set up the lock-up. Art Carr does 200Rs to 1k HP. Smaller than a 700R so easier to fit, just my 2 cents worth.
