napa makes or made a universal 6 volt ignition coil
My question is will this coil work on my 1951 chevy 216?
Ive seen them on ebay pretty cheap and have been wondering about it.

just buy a coil that is not labled internally resisted. Most 12V systems use a resister between the ignition and the coil basically to reduce the voltage going to the coil to around 6V. So most 12V coils are in reality running on 6V. Unless they are labled internally resisted where running it on a 6v system would be putting only 3 volts through the coil.
